Social Inclusion Projects
The Sound Institute are proud to present workshops that have been created from a combination of our training and experience. We aim to promote: confidence, self awareness, self-expression and self-esteem.
We work creatively and therapeutically using voice, sound and the mind/body connection to tailor make workshops according to the needs of each group. We work with diverse groups of adults, young people and children, both able-bodied and disabled. Where possible, we like to include carer participation in the workshops.
The following is a list of the workshops we have recently facilitated which represent some of the ways in which we work. The list also includes some ideas for potential workshops.
Well-Being Sound & Singing Workshops
Sing Aloud Project
An interactive evening or afternoon singing workshop. The Sing Aloud Workshop is great fun to participate in and focuses on developing confidence and self-awareness through: singing, harmony and performance. Where possible we welcome care assistants to take part. This workshop can also be offered as a course.
Your Song Project
A six session programme supporting learning disabled young people to write, record and perform a song exploring their feelings and aspirations about growing up.
Sound & Movement Project
These workshops will include warm-up and familiarization exercises, improvisation and improvisation around a theme, movement & music, group work and ultimately developing and rehearsing a short performance piece. This project consists of a six week session of workshops which will culminate in the creation and performance of a piece of music and movement. We welcome care assistants to join in with the class.
